Tottenham keeping close eye on Sebastian Szymanski

Tottenham could be looking to sign a new midfielder in the summer transfer window.

Spurs were heavily linked with a move for Conor Gallagher in the January window, but they didn’t make any formal offer.

Ange Postecoglou will be backed in the summer transfer market irrespective of where they finish this season. They are challenging for the fourth spot, but even a fifth spot could be enough to secure Champions League football next season.

Spurs could make an attempt to sign Gallagher in the summer, but they are keeping other options open. The north London club are keeping a close eye on Fenerbahce midfielder Sebastian Szymanski, but face strong competition from the likes of Napoli and AC Milan.

According to a report from Aksam, Milan are leading the race at the moment, but both Spurs and Napoli are monitoring his development closely.

Sebastian Szymanski could be smart signing for Tottenham

Szymanski is arguably one of the key players for Fenerbahce and has been in red-hot form this season. He has managed 12 goals and 14 assists for the Turkish giants in all competitions this season, and his performances have caught the attention of top clubs.

The Polish midfielder can play in all three positions up front and his versatility might interest Postecoglou. He has a contract until 2027, so expect Fenerbahce to demand a decent transfer fee for him, but Spurs should be able to meet that, especially if they secure Champions League football.

Postecoglou has stressed the need to sign a new centre-back next summer, while Gabby Agbonlahor says signing a new striker is a priority for Spurs. Daniel Levy has often come under criticism from the fans, but he has ensured that Spurs stay financially healthy and at the same time remain competitive in the league.

There are already signs of progress this season, and with more quality signings, they will get even better next season. Doubts remain about whether Szymanski will be one of them, although his numbers are pretty impressive.
