Badiashile keen on Chelsea stay despite AC Milan exit rumours

Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile is eager to remain at Chelsea beyond this season despite rumours linking him with a summer exit, Football London reports.

The 23-year-old’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge has come under intense speculation despite joining the club in January last year.

Serie A giants AC Milan have repeatedly been touted as a potential landing spot, with the Rossoneri keen to reinforce their backline this summer.

However, Badiashile has reaffirmed his commitment to Chelsea, and the club are also eager to retain the services of the defender who joined from AS Monaco in a £35 million deal.

The France international has endured a campaign plagued by injuries, restricting him to just 13 appearances across all competitions.

He has bagged just under 1000 minutes of first-team football and has missed 19 matches through injury this term.

Badiashile has struggled to gain any sort of consistency in Mauricio Pochettino’s team, but the absence of Levi Colwill saw him return to the starting XI at the weekend.

The Frenchman slotted in alongside Axel Disasi, rekindling their Monaco connection, but it wasn’t enough to spur the Blues to victory as ten-man Burnley eked out a shocking 2-2 draw.

Nevertheless, Badiashile will hope to retain his place in the starting line-up as Chelsea continue to fight for one of the European slots. They host Manchester United at the Bridge on Thursday night.

Chelsea are keen to shake up the squad once again, but Badiashile is expected to remain at the club, although the same cannot be said for Trevoh Chalobah.

The homegrown talent has also been consistently linked with a summer exit, having struggled with injury problems this season.

Chalobah has missed 32 games through injuries and could be one of those sacrificed as Chelsea look to recoup funds to adhere to the strict Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The Blues are also looking ahead to life after Thiago Silva, with the experienced Brazilian centre-back expected to leave the club this summer.
