Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson praises Liverpool counterpart Darwin Nunez for his movement and work rate

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson has praised his Liverpool counterpart Darwin Nunez, claiming he has the best movement and work rate while building the ultimate striker.

The Uruguay international has been in splendid form in his second season in the Premier League, with 11 goals and seven assists to his name in 28 games after finishing last term with nine goals and three assists in the competition.

Ferguson has been impressed with Nunez, and while he picked Kylian Mbappe for his speed, Didier Drogba for his heading, Harry Kane for his finishing, Adebayo Akinfenwa for his strength, Lionel Messi for his dribbling and Wayne Rooney for his link-up play, the Seagulls forward named the Liverpool star when picking his choice for movement and work rate.

Nunez is more than just a goalscorer, with his style of play brilliant for the system manager Jurgen Klopp deploys at Liverpool.

While he was largely criticised last term due to his struggles at times in front of goal, the former Benfica star is finally proving himself and will be desperate to keep improving.

The 24-year-old has hit the woodwork nine times in the Premier League this term after hitting it five times last term, and he would have been comfortably leading the goalscoring charts this term were he luckier.

Klopp has made Nunez better and his successor at Liverpool will hope to continue to keep bringing out the best in the South American.

Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim has emerged as favourite to land the job in the coming weeks, and Portuguese could make the Uruguayan become a force to reckon with in front of goal in the English top-flight.

Nunez can give Manchester City hitman Erling Braut Haaland a run for his money as he already has the perfect movement and work rate, qualities Ferguson admires in high, and it will be interesting to see whether he will keep getting better and better going forward.
