Don Hutchison delivers brutal Everton relegation verdict

Everton suffered a humiliating 6-0 defeat against Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday night at Stamford Bridge.

The Toffees boss admitted after the game that they had “high expectations” from the match, but it turned out to be an awful night. They conceded four goals in the first half and never recovered from that.

The problems Everton are facing off the pitch are well documented, but the players have a job to secure their Premier League safety. The Toffees are just two points above the relegation zone and the results need to improve.

The next few games are absolutely crucial for Everton, and the results from those games are likely to seal their fate. They face Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Luton Town, and Sheffield United, all of which are winnable games.

While nobody expects them to beat the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, if they can secure maximum points from those four games above mentioned, they should be safe for this season, irrespective of the outcome of their PSR appeal.

Don Hutchison, while checking on their upcoming fixtures, has rightly pointed out that the Toffees must win some of their remaining games.

The popular pundit wrote on X: “Everton don’t deserve to stay up if they can’t win some of these games! Surely they gotta win some of these!.”

Everton need to win games at home

There is no denying the fact that the issues off the pitch are hurting the team, but it is the responsibility of the players and the manager to control what is in their hands.

The results have been dire in 2024, and Sean Dyche has looked bereft of ideas at times. While they have one of the best defensive records in the league, the Toffees have struggled to score, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffering from a horrendous drop in form.

Forest and Luton are just below them in the league, and wins against them will have a massive impact on their survival chances. Similarly, Sheffield United are dead-cert to get relegated and Everton must beat them as well.

The Toffees can also play a big role in determining the outcome of the title race if they pick up a point against Liverpool or Arsenal.
