Gary Lineker: Crystal Palace may have to sell Michael Olise

Gary Lineker has suggested Crystal Palace could see one of their star players heading out of Selhurst Park next summer.

Palace are likely to be set for a major rebuilding project next summer and they probably will have to sell some of their players after a disappointing campaign.

Alan Shearer suggested on Match of the Day (Wednesday, 3 April) that the Eagles are looking to go through the season, and surviving in the league remains their main target. After that, they will look for a rebuilding job in the summer under Oliver Glasner.

Palace have missed several key players this season and it has badly affected their performance. Michael Olise is one of those players who has struggled with injuries this season, but he could return this weekend against Manchester City.

Olise has been linked heavily with a move to top Premier League clubs, with Manchester United reportedly keen on securing his services.

Lineker on Match of the Day has suggested that Palace could sell the 22-year-old attacking midfielder in the summer.

“Olise missing. It’s always tough,” said Richards.

“They will probably have to sell, maybe,” added Lineker.

Huge summer ahead for Crystal Palace

The priority for the Eagles has to be to secure Premier League survival. Palace have picked up only five points from their last five games, and it’s not good enough. They are eight points above the drop zone, and a few more wins should be enough to secure their Premier League status for next season.

Glasner could look to bolster their forward department next summer, an area that has let the team down on many occasions this season.

Olise is one of the brightest young players in the Premier League and the Eagles would love to keep him at the club. He has managed six goals and three assists in just eight starts in the Premier League this season, and Palace have missed him badly.

However, if Man Utd or any other rich Premier League side comes up with a huge offer, Palace could be tempted to offload him. Similarly, Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze and Cheick Doucoure could also attract offers from other heavyweight clubs, but they are unlikely to leave cheaply.
