Glenn Murray gushes about Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson

Crystal Palace lost 1-0 against AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night in wet and windy conditions at Vitality Stadium in the Premier League.

The Eagles are eight points above the relegation zone but they need a few more wins to boost their confidence. They have gone three games without a win and it could extend to four when Manchester City pay visit to Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Palace controlled the game superbly in the first half and created some good opportunities. However, they couldn’t take their chances, and it came back to haunt them as Justin Kluivert scored in the 79th minute to secure all three points for the home side.

In the first half, the Cherries came close to scoring in the 35th minute when Philip Billing had a header tipped on to the bar by Dean Henderson. Glenn Murray was left impressed by Henderson’s save while he was co-commenting on the game for the Premier League feed.

Murray, who also works as a pundit for BBC Sport, said it was a “wonderful” save from the 27-year-old goalkeeper.

“We were just talking about the man in goal. Dean Henderson. It’s a wonderful save. Stays still, wait for the contract, just got his fingertip on to the bar,” he said.

A recurring theme for Crystal Palace

Sam Johnstone has undergone an elbow surgery and has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Henderson is a reliable replacement and he has already made 10 starts in the Premier League this season.

The Eagles have badly struggled with injuries this season. The likes of Michael Olise, Marc Guehi, Cheick Doucoure, Matheus Franca, and Chris Richards are currently out injured along with Johnstone and it has weakened the squad.

Throughout the season, we have seen that Palace have either dominated the game or taken an early lead and then blew it away in the second half. Oliver Glasner said after the game that his side created some good opportunities and they should have taken their chances.

It has been a familiar pattern for them. Glasner has picked up just one win in four games and the Eagles need a solid performance against Man City this weekend to get something from the game.

In other Crystal Palace news, Tim Sherwood has showered praise on 25-year-old midfielder after what he did v Bournemouth.
