Newcastle ready to move for Adrien Rabiot

Newcastle United will look to bolster their midfield in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from the Sunday People (April 14, page 68), the Magpies are set to battle with Manchester United to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The 29-year-old midfielder has a contract at the Serie A club until the end of the season, and Newcastle can sign him for free.

The report claims that the Magpies are anxious to strengthen their central midfield department and have been alerted to Rabiot’s availability.

The midfielder was a part of the French side that lost the World Cup final in Qatar in 2022 against Argentina.

Newcastle need to be smart in the transfer window and they may need to offload some of their key players to stay within the limit of PSR rules. Rabiot, who has won six league titles in his career (five for PSG and one for Juventus), is open to move after nearly five years in Italy.

Adrien Rabiot is vastly experienced

Rabiot is a vastly experienced midfielder. He has made over 200 appearances for the Serie A giants and has made over 450 appearances in all competitions in his career to date.

Newcastle could be tempted to bring him on board for free, but they may have to pay a hefty wage fee. The Magpies suffered a massive blow this season after summer signing Sandro Tonali was banned for the entire season for betting issues.

While Tonali will return to action next season, Eddie Howe can afford to bring in another experienced player, and Rabiot fits the bill. He is a gifted left-footed defensive midfielder who has this uncanny habit of scoring important goals.

In 2022/23, he scored 11 goals in all competitions for Juventus and has managed four goals this term. The Magpies are also showing keen interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White who could be available for around £50m.
