So it seems like Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is very much back on the radar of Arsenal.
Juve beat Arsenal to the 24-year-old’s signature when they signed him from Fiorentina in January 2022 for around £66 million (Sky Sports),
Vlahovic certainly hasn’t set the world alight with Juventus, but in fairness to him he hasn’t been that bad for them either.
According to a report from Tuttosport (print edition May 4th, front page), the former Fiorentina man is in the sights of Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners allegedly have a great chance to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer, with the Swede trying to force through a move to the Emirates.
However, it seems like Mikel Arteta and co could be tempted to go down the route of signing Vlahovic instead. He’d certainly be a cheaper option than the Sporting striker, with Juve allegedly asking for just £50 million for him (Tuttosport)…
Arsenal back in for Dusan Vlahovic
Arteta clearly wants someone who can act as a focal point in attack for his team next season. Kai Havertz has been used in that role this term, but it’s doubtful that that is where his long-term Arsenal future lies.
And Vlahovic may well be the man for the job, despite his inconsistent nature.
The Serbian hitman has bagged 40 goals and nine assists in 96 appearances for Juve, so he certainly hasn’t been a complete failure in Turin.
He has 137 career goals for club and country to his name, and is a right handful for opposing central defenders, both in the air and on the ground.
Vlahovic has been described as ‘lethal’ by the Telegraph, and on his day he is certainly one of the very best strikers on the planet.
However, there is a real sense that he has so much more to give, and maybe Arteta could unlock that potential in north London. If anyone can, the Gunners boss can.
Judging by the latest round of reports out in Italy, Arsenal could make yet another attempt to bring Dusan Vlahovic to north London this summer. For £50 million, he’d be a risk worth taking for the Gunners.
