Celtic have won the Scottish Cup after beating Rangers 1-0 in the final at Hampden Park on Saturday (25 May).
Adam Idah scored in the 90th minute for the Bhoys to complete a memorable season. The Hoops also won the SPFL title this season, completing a league and cup double.
Idah joined Celtic in the January transfer window from Norwich City and has proved to be a quality addition. Brendan Rodgers has hailed him as a “big-game” player and hopes that Celtic will sign him permanently.
According to a report from the Daily Record (back page and page 70), Rodgers has confirmed that he’s desperate to sign Idah and is “praying” to the Celtic board to come up with the cash to land the £6m-rated striker.
Big summer ahead for Celtic
This is going to be a massive summer transfer window for the Bhoys. The 2023-24 season has not been a smooth ride for the Bhoys.
They were comfortably leading at one stage but then saw a sharp decline in form, which allowed Rangers to crawl back into the title race and close the gap.
Rodgers also took strong criticism from the press after Celtic bowed out of the Champions League. But in the end, the Hoops found the momentum and went on to lift the title and the Scottish Cup.
Celtic must now build on it. They need to spend heavily in the summer window to add more quality players to their ranks, and getting Idah on a permanent deal makes a lot of sense.
It will also be interesting to see if the Bhoys can hold on to their star players such as Matt O’Riley and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
