Celtic submit offer to sign Uğurcan Çakır

Celtic need to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window and have already been linked with several top goalkeepers.

Joe Hart will retire from professional football at the end of the season, and the Hoops need to find a top replacement.

According to a report from Günebakış, the Bhoys are showing keen interest in signing Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakır.

The Hoops have reportedly made an offer in the region of £6.4m for the 28-year-old goalkeeper. FC Nantes and AS Roma are also interested, but Celtic are leading the race for his signature.

Saudi club Al-Ahli have also made an attractive offer. Trabzonspor have made it clear they will sell him if the price is right.

However, the goalkeeper could be tempted to prove himself in Scotland, where he could play Champions League football with Celtic.

McCarthy is another goalkeeping option

Çakır has a contract at the Turkish club until 2027, but he is looking for fresh challenges in his career.

While Celtic can tempt him with the offer of European football, the goalkeeper could be persuaded to move to Saudi Arabia where he would earn a lot of money.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the Hoops are also monitoring Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy. The 34-year-old is vastly experienced and available on a free transfer.

He has been in great form for the Saints and it could be a wise move by Celtic to get him on board.

However, they are expected to face competition from Liverpool and Newcastle United.
