Crystal Palace and Fulham looking to sign Man Utd’s Sofyan Amrabat

Sofyan Amrabat’s short-term spell at Manchester United hasn’t gone to plan, but the Morocco international could stay in the Premier League beyond the summer.

According to The Sun, Crystal Palace and Fulham have lined up in the queue to sign the Fiorentina midfielder following his return to prominence down the tail-end of the season.

Man Utd included a buyout clause in the 27-year-old’s deal when they arranged his loan switch to Old Trafford last summer, but they’re having second thoughts.

United paid the Tuscan outfit £8.5 million to onboard Amrabat on loan and will have to fork out an additional £21.4m to acquire his services permanently this summer.

Not long ago, the Moroccan’s chances of landing a permanent deal at the Theatre of Dreams looked dead in the water.

However, he has bolstered his prospects at Man Utd with a string of promising performances, earning praise from the under-pressure manager Erik ten Hag.

Even if the 20-time English champions decide against exercising the buyout option, Amrabat could continue his career in the Premier League next season.

Palace and Fulham could throw him a lifeline on the island.

Despite humbling Man Utd 4-0, Palace officials like what they saw from Amrabat at Selhurst Park last month and are now contemplating a summer swoop for the Moroccan.

But Fulham could provide stiff competition as they brace up for a busy summer.

The Cottagers could lose up to four first-team stars in the upcoming transfer window, leaving Marco Silva desperate for reinforcements to keep his squad competitive.

With Joao Palhinha among the most likely high-profile departures, the Craven Cottage side must add a quality deep-lying midfielder to fill the vacancy.

Amrabat, who starred for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, fits the bill, even though the Eagles are in pole position amidst the club’s resurgence under new manager Oliver Glasner.
