Jefte completes medical ahead of Rangers move

Rangers are close to securing their first summer signing after Jefte has passed his medical ahead of his move to Ibrox.

According to a report from Rangers Review, the Brazilian defender completed his medical on Thursday (23 May) at Ibrox.

The Gers are planning a major summer rebuild, and Philippe Clement prioritizes bolstering the defence.

Jefte has now moved a step closer to joining Ibrox after completing his medical.

The Bears were interested in signing the 20-year-old defender during the January transfer window, but the move didn’t happen as he stayed at APOEL on loan for the rest of the season.

Chris Jack writes (24 May) that Jefte is poised to finalise his departure from Fluminense to put pen to paper in Glasgow. Rangers remain in the driving seat to land Levski Sofia defender Jose Cordoba as well.

Rangers set for major overhaul in the summer

For the third season running, Rangers will approach the summer market under a new manager. Clement has done a brilliant job so far and the club must back him completely.

Rangers fans can expect major changes to the squad as Clement has openly suggested that it will be an “end of a cycle” for several established members of his squad.

Borna Barisic, John Lundstram, and Kemar Roofe are set to leave Rangers this summer, and other players like Robby McCrorie could also depart.

Jefte will fill the void left by Barisic who is edging closer to joining Trabzonspor. January signing on loan, Fabio Silva will return to his parent club, Wolves, but Rangers want to keep hold of Abdallah Sima.

They have been in contact with Brighton and Hove Albion over another deal for Sima, while Clement wants to retain winger Oscar Cortes. Clement has shown that he is a top-quality manager and he can take Rangers to great heights if he is properly backed in the transfer market.
