Barcelona wonderkid Vitor Roque could be on his way out of Spotify Camp Nou this summer, barely six months after he completed his €60 million move to the Catalan giants.
Barca manager Xavi Hernandez is not the biggest fan of the talented Brazillian striker and doesn’t believe he has what it takes to contribute to the first team, opening the door to a potential loan move this summer.
Roque was branded as a generational talent during his days at Athletico Paranaense, catching the eye of several European scouts, but he had his heart set on joining Barca.
However, his dream move has since morphed into a nightmare amid his struggles for first-team minutes, which has sparked rumours of a summer exit.
Manchester United are one of the teams keen on the Brazilian wonderkid and have previously tested the possibility of signing the 19-year-old this summer.
The Red Devils are on the market for a striker to challenge Rasmus Hojlund for a starting berth and had Roque in their sights despite his struggles at Nou Camp.
However, the Premier League giants have been dealt a huge blow in their quest to sign the youngster, with Gazzetta reporting that Roque is on the cusp of joining Inter Milan this summer.
Despite the reports, United were highly unlikely to fork out a significant sum on Roque, who has struggled to prove himself at the highest level.
Roque has started in just two of his 11 La Liga appearances this season, amassing just 310 minutes of first-team football across all competitions.
If Xavi doesn’t believe the youngster has what it takes to stake a claim for regular first-team minutes, United were always unlikely to act on their perceived interest in the striker.
Roque was described as a ‘brilliant’ striker after netting his debut goal for Barca in a 1-0 win over Osasuna back in January, but his time at Camp Nou hasn’t panned out according to script.
Tottenham Hotspur have also sounded out an interest in Roque, but a move to Inter will give the youngster a chance to reinvent himself and prove he has what it takes to thrive at the highest level.
