Newcastle close in on deal to sign Tosin Adarabioyo on free transfer

Newcastle United are closing in on a deal to sign Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, according to a report from the Daily Mail

The Magpies are looking to add depth at the back with both Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman could be missing a chunk of next season through injuries.

Newcastle are now putting the framework of the package in place after progress was made this week, and the deal should be concluded in London in the coming days.

The 26-year-old defender was offered new contracts at Fulham but made it clear that he wouldn’t sign a new deal. He is excited about playing under Eddie Howe and is impressed by the project at Tyneside. Unless there is any major hiccup, he is set to become Newcastle’s first signing of the summer.

Given the long-term injuries to Botman and Lascelles, Adarabioyo will likely be a regular starter under Howe next season.

Massive summer transfer window for Newcastle

Adarabioyo appeared 129 times for Fulham over four seasons and Howe has been attracted by his physical prowess and technical abilities.

Newcastle are also looking to secure the signing of Llyod Kelly, who has decided to leave AFC Bournemouth, as a free agent. Both Kelly and Adarabioyo have plenty of Premier League experience, and they will represent a terrific piece of business for the club.

Apart from bolstering the defence, the Magpies are looking to add Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. They have been linked with a move for Wolves winger Pedro Neto as well.

Howe is also looking to sign a new back-up goalkeeper, and the Magpies have been linked with Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale. Newcastle are also keen to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who could leave the La Liga club in the summer window.
