Real Madrid star Rodrygo tempted by Manchester City interest

Real Madrid star Rodrygo tempted by Manchester City interest

Real Madrid star Rodrygo is tempted by interest from Premier League champions Manchester City, according to Marca (page 7).

The Brazilian’s long-term future at Santiago Bernabeu has been called into question since rumours about a potential move for Kylian Mbappe began to circulate.

Madrid are poised to land Mbappe on a free transfer this summer after his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, and Rodrygo could be directly affected by the arrival of the French superstar.

The 23-year-old prefers to feature on the left flank and already has his Brazilian counterpart Vinicius Junior to contend with.

Mbappe’s potential arrival further complicates the situation, leaving Madrid with three forwards who prefer to line-up on the left wing.

It is understood Rodrygo is not contemplating a Madrid exit for now, but that could change in the future, and the Brazilian is reportedly tempted by interest from City.

The treble winners are one of several Premier League teams monitoring Rodrygo’s situation, with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United also credited with an interest.

The Premier League giants would be more than willing to splash the cash on the Madrid superstar.

Even though the Spanish giants are not considering a sale, Mundo Deportivo reports that Rodrygo could cost around €120 million.

Rodrygo is poised to play a crucial role when Madrid take on Borussia Dortmund in a bid to claim their 15th Champions League title at Wembley Stadium.

He already has five goals and three assists in 12 Champions League games this season and could easily be the point of difference at Wembley on Saturday.

City are already familiar with Rodrygo’s attacking talent. He scored against Pep Guardiola’s side in both legs of their quarter-final contest.

Rodrygo has netted 17 times and provided a further nine assists in 50 appearances for Los Blancos this season. He would be a game-changing signing for whichever Premier League team wins the race for his signature.
