Tottenham Hotspur in for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez during the summer transfer window, according to Mexican news outlet TV Azteca.

Spurs are open to selling some of their players as manager Ange Postecoglou plans a major clearout, and Brazilian forward Richarlison could be among those to leave.

The North Londoners have yet to properly replace England international striker Harry Kane and it appears they are ready to do so this summer with the addition of Gimenez.

However, Tottenham are not the only English club keen on recruiting the services of the Mexico international, with Leeds United, Southampton and Liverpool also linked with an interest.

The 23-year-old has been valued at £38 million by Transfermarkt, but his value could skyrocket if he impresses at the Copa America with Mexico next month.

Spurs need a quality number 9 if they want to finish in the top-four next term, and Gimenez fits the bill given his excellent finishing in front of goal and other qualities.

The former Cruz Azul star ended 2023-24 with 26 goals and seven assists in 41 games after weighing in with 23 goals in 45 appearances in his debut season in 2022-23 and helping Feyenoord land the Eredivisie title.

Gimenez won the Dutch Cup with the side last month and is ready to move on to a bigger league, and the Premier League has attracted him.

While his current contract does not expire until June 2027, Feyenoord are not expected to stand in his way as long as a suitable offer can be brought to the negotiation table.

Tottenham will be ready to invest in quality players over the summer to further bolster their squad, and landing Gimenez could help them boost their chances of winning their first piece of silverware since 2008.

They scored the least goals (74) out of the teams that finished the 2023-24 Premier League campaign in the top seven, and they need quality firepower going forward.
