Aston Villa are reportedly targeting a move for Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries.
The 28-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2021 and has been one of the key members of the first-team.
He has made 132 appearances across all competitions for Inter over the last three years, with 11 goals and 20 assists to his name.
The former PSV Eindhoven star is also part of Netherlands’ Euro 2024 squad and is expected to play a big part for the national side.
However, the talented defender’s contract at San Siro is expiring in 2025 and he is yet to agree a new deal with the Italian giants.
Inter will not want to lose him for free and could look to sell him this summer.
Aston Villa are interested in Dumfries and, as per Il Giorno, they are leading the race for the 28-year-old.
The Lions are expected to cash in on Matty Cash this summer in order to stay in line with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
They have identified Dumfries as a replacement for the Poland international, but it remains to be seen whether they can agree a deal with Inter.
Aston Villa enjoyed an excellent 2023-24 season under manager Unai Emery as they finished fourth in the Premier League to secure Champions League qualification.
But despite the European riches, they will have to be clever this summer due to PSR concerns.
