Besiktas eye move for Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz

Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz has been frequently linked with a move away from Ibrox, and he could be in the transfer spotlight again this summer.

Galatasaray wanted to sign the 23-year-old in the January transfer window but a deal couldn’t be agreed for the Turkish defender.

He made 34 appearances in all competitions last season, and recent reports suggested that he plans to stay at Ibrox beyond the end of the summer.

According to a fresh report from Turkiye Gazetesi, Besiktas are keen to sign their former player in the summer window.

The Turkish club are looking to offload Arthur Masuaku to FC Nantes. The French club have already made an offer, and it is considered certain that the transfer will go through.

In case the former West Ham defender leaves the club, Besiktas will look to fill the void with Yilmaz, who has previously worked with Giovanni van Bronckhorst at Rangers.

The Dutchman is the current manager of Besiktas, and he wants to bring the Turkish defender back to his old club.

Should Rangers offload Ridvan Yilmaz?

Philippe Clement is on a mission to overhaul the entire squad and he probably will not mind if there’s a good offer on the table for Yilmaz.

Borna Barisic left Ibrox early in the summer window after his contract expired, and it is highly unlikely that Clement will sell another left-back unless there’s a tempting offer. As of now, that offer hasn’t arrived.

Yilmaz wants to fight for his place at Rangers and could become a real asset for the Gers if he stays injury-free. The Bears have already signed Brazilian full-back Jefte, but Clement probably will not sell Yilmaz without signing a replacement.

Clement could also sanction the exit of Ianis Hagi, while Sam Lammers could be offloaded as well.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are leading the race to sign 23-year-old striker this summer.
