Chelsea make £17 million offer to sign Boca Juniors teenager Aaron Anselmino

Chelsea have been trying to sign Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino in the 2024 summer transfer window

According to a report from TyC Sports, the Blues have made an offer worth up to £17 million for the 19-year-old.

The Argentine outfit could agree to sell but they want to know whether the payment will be in a single instalment and also if the player can remain at La Bombonera for one more year.

Anselmino is one of the best talents to have emerged from Boca who earned his competitive debut in June last year.

So far, he has made 10 senior appearances for the Primera Division side with a goal to his name.

His incredible development has reportedly caught the attention of several European clubs, including Chelsea.

Anselmino mainly plays in central defence but he can also be utilised as a defensive midfielder.

The 19-year-old has a lot of potential but his limited first-team experience means he will be a player for the future rather than an immediate starter at Stamford Bridge.

The West Londoners have installed Enzo Maresca as their new manager after Mauricio Pochettino left by mutual consent last month.

Maresca will aim to revive the club’s fortunes following a disappointing sixth-placed finish last term.

One of their top priorities this summer is said to be a new centre-forward.

Nicolas Jackson was impressive in his debut season, scoring 14 goals in 35 Premier League games.

But it is believed that he could benefit from having some of the scoring burden relieved from his shoulders.
