Chelsea have registered ‘concrete‘ interest in TSG Hoffenheim forward Maximilian Beier, according to Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The Blues are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer and have turned their attention to Beier after missing out on Michael Olise.
Chelsea had a long-standing interest in Olise but failed to agree terms with the Frenchman, paving the way for Bayern Munich to swoop in.
With Olise now one step away from joining the Bundesliga giants, Chelsea are forced to look elsewhere for reinforcement, and Beier is now on their radar.
The 21-year-old was in phenomenal form for Hoffenheim last season. He notched 16 goals and three assists in 33 Bundesliga games.
His exceptional performances helped Hoffenheim secure a place in the Europa League, but he could be on his way out of the club if a suitable offer arrives this summer.
Chelsea are not the only side interested in signing Beier this summer. Aston Villa have also been credited with an interest in the German wonderkid.
The Villans are keen to bolster their squad as they prepare to compete in the Champions League and have already signed Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen.
Given that they can offer Champions League football, they’ll fancy their chances of beating Chelsea to the young German forward.
Beier’s release clause is pegged at around £25 million, so it could come down to which club presents a better contract proposal.
Hoffenheim will not stand in his way if he wants to leave, so it will be interesting to see how the situation with the German striker develops.
Chelsea have also been credited with an interest in Lille striker Jonathan David. They’ve reportedly opened talks with the striker’s representatives ahead of a potential summer move.
However, the Blues have yet to formalise their interest with an offer, with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur also interested in the Canada international.
David is entering the final year of his contract with Lille, and the French side are eager to cut him loose this summer.
