Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz is set to complete a move to Juventus after negotiations reached a final stage yesterday, with Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior heading in the opposite direction, according to Italian outlet Tutto Sport.
Juve sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli thrashed out talks with the agent of the Brazil international Kia Joorabchian on Wednesday over personal terms, and both were able to reach an agreement.
The 26-year-old Villa star currently earns around €3.5 million per season and has demanded around double that to agree to a move to Juventus.
However, the Old Lady are willing to pay him €5m per season and offer him a four-year deal, and it appears both parties have been able to reach an agreement.
Giuntoli has also been in talks with his Villa counterpart Monchi, and while the Midlands club value Luiz at €65m, adding McKennie and Iling-Junior as makeweights have drastically slashed the fee given the value of the duo.
As a result, the Serie A club want to add €18m (£15.2m) with the two players in exchange for the Villa star instead of the €20m Monchi initially, with that being the final obstacle.
It is a deal which works in the favour of both clubs, as new Juventus manager Thiago Motta will be getting a solid addition ahead of a title challenge in his first season in charge, while Villa will be balancing the books, avoiding breaking the Profit and Sustainability rules and also getting two top players in return.
Losing Luiz is a big blow for Villa manager Unai Emery as the club prepares for life in the Champions League after helping them secure a return to the elite European competition for the first time since 1983.
However, parting ways with him is necessary given what is at stake, and the Spaniard will hope both McKennie and Iling-Junior will help improve his squad massively.
