Everton hope to sell Amadou Onana before the end of June

Everton are hoping to offload Amadou Onana before the end of this month, according to The Times

The newspaper reported on their online edition of 14 June that the Toffees are staying firm with their valuation of Jarrad Branthwaite because, in part, they are hoping to offload the Belgian international.

Onana joined from Lille for £34 million in the summer of 2022 and has played a key role for the Toffees in the past two seasons. Everton value him in excess of £50 million, and the Toffees believe they can make a profit on the midfielder.

Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest in the 22-year-old central midfielder, while Arsenal retain a long-term interest.

The Gunners have enquired about a deal for Onana, as per Liverpool Echo, but The Times claims that Mikel Arteta’s side are not presently ready to press ahead with interest.

Everton must hold on to Branthwaite if they sell Onana

As of now, the Toffees are yet to receive an offer for Onana, but he is the one the club want to offload.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have submitted an opening bid of £43 million for Branthwaite (£35 million fixed and £8 million in add-ons), but it is likely to be rejected.

The Red Devils have agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old centre-back, but they need to pay around £70 million to lure him away from Goodison Park.

To be fair, the Toffees have very little option here. If they do not receive offers for Onana before the end of this month, will they continue to take a hard stance on Branthwaite? Will they not be tempted to sell him?

Both Branthwaite and Onana are bankable assets, and Everton do not want to get into a scenario where they lose points again. Last season, they lost eight points for breaching the Premier League’s financial rules, and they will be keen to avoid a similar fate.
