Everton are one of the clubs showing keen interest in signing Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo.
The Toffees could look to bolster their midfield this summer if Amadou Onana leaves the club. Also, Everton cannot rely heavily on Idrissa Gueye forever, and they need to consider replacing him at some point.
As of now, Everton have not felt the need to offload the Belgium international, but he has no shortage of admirers.
According to a report from TuttoJuve, Melo has learnt that he is not in Thiago Motta’s plans for next season. He can either leave the Old Lady to move to the Premier League or join clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
In England, Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham are following him closely.
Earlier this month (17 June), Tuttosport reported that Everton have concrete interest in the midfielder, who is likely to move to Merseyside this summer.
It appears that Everton have managed to stay within the PSR limits after offloading Lewis Dobbin and Ben Godfrey this month. They can now look forward to adding more players from next month, and Melo would be a fantastic signing if they can get him on the cheap.
The 22-times capped Brazilian international is a vastly experienced midfielder who joined Liverpool in the summer of 2022 but managed only one game for the Reds.
After recovering from injury, he joined Fiorentina on loan from Juventus where he made 48 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals.
He has played for clubs like Juventus and Barcelona and can be a handy option for the Toffees in midfield.
Juventus are looking to get rid of him as he is not in the manager’s plans. This could open the door for Everton and other Premier League clubs to approach the Serie A giants and get the midfielder on board.
