Fabrizio Romano: Omari Kellyman in talks to leave Aston Villa

Aston Villa youngster Omari Kellyman is ready to move to Chelsea this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano

Villa need to offload a few players before the end of the month to comply with the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules, and there have already been some movements.

According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, Villa are in talks with Chelsea over the transfer of Kellyman.

Villa are close to securing a deal for versatile left-back Ian Maatsen from Chelsea in a deal worth £37.5 million. The player is expected to seal the move by the end of the week.

In a separate deal, Villa youngster Kellyman could be heading to Stamford Bridge. Writing on X (22 June), Romano says that negotiations are underway between the club and the player. Aston Villa values him at around £19 million.

Having agreed a deal for Maatsen, Villa now need to sell players to balance the books. Kellyman joined Villa two years ago from Derby County, and he is one of the highly-rated young talents at the club.

He made his Premier League debut in the defeat to Manchester City in April, and has a long-term contract at Villa Park. Considering his potential and the length of the contract, Villa are demanding a high transfer fee for him.

The teenager can play in variety of positions and is similar to Kai Havertz in terms of style of play.

There could be more transfers between the two clubs this summer. Villa are keen to sign Conor Gallagher, while the Blues have earmarked John Duran as a potential option.

Douglas Luiz is expected to join Juventus in a deal in which more than one player will move in the opposite direction. Villa are also selling midfielder Tim Iroegbunam to Everton and signing Lewis Dobbin from the Toffees.
