Genoa trying to bargain with Tottenham to get Spence for less than £8.5m

Genoa are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Djed Spence on a permanent basis.

The 23-year-old impressed with his displays after joining the Red and Blues on loan in January last season.

He made 16 Serie A appearances, averaging 1.0 tackles, 2.9 ball recoveries and 1.3 clearances per game.

Genoa have the option to sign Spence permanently for £8.5 million but they are trying to bargain with Spurs for a lower fee, per Tuttomercatoweb

The English footballer arrived at Tottenham in a £20m move from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2022.

But he failed to make a huge impact in North London, registering just six appearances in the last two years.

The 23-year-old was sent out on loan to Stade Rennais for the second-half of the 2022-23 campaign, and then he headed to Leeds United on a season-long loan last summer.

But the Whites cut short the move after playing only nine matches and he ended up at Genoa for the remainder of the season.

Spence played impressive football at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, and now the Serie A outfit are looking to make his move permanent.

The right-back doesn’t have any future at Tottenham, with the club already having Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal on their books.

It looks that joining Genoa permanently would be best for the English footballer.
