Juventus midfielder Enzo Barrenechea gives green light for Aston Villa move

Aston Villa have been trying to offload Douglas Luiz to comply with the Premier League’s spending rules.

The 26-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the Old Lady but agreement between the two clubs is still remaining.

The two sides have been negotiating for a cash-plus-player deal, involving Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea.

Initially, Juve proposed to include Weston McKennie and Illing-Junior in the deal but McKennie’s salary demands forced them to take him out of the picture.

The latest update from  Calciomercato.com is good news for the Villans as Barrenechea has given the green light for a move to the West Midlands.

The Argentine joined Juventus in the winter of 2020 and has made five senior appearances for the Italian outfit so far.

He was sent out on loan to Frosinone last season and he impressed with his performances despite the club suffering relegation to Serie B.

The 23-year-old registered 39 appearances across all competitions last term, with 36 coming in Serie A.

Aston Villa enjoyed a superb 2023-24 season under Unai Emery as they secured a Champions League berth by finishing fourth in the Premier League.

But despite the European riches, transfer budget is said to be tight and so they look to sell before bringing in new recruits this summer.

The Lions are prepared to offload Douglas Luiz as well as Jhon Duran, who has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea.
