Leeds United eye move for Marek Rodak

Leeds United have earmarked Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodak as one of their options to replace Illan Meslier should be leave the club.

The Whites are expecting a fire sale at Elland Road this summer after they failed to secure promotion to the Premier League last season.

Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville are most likely to leave, while Leeds anticipate Meslier to attract interest during the summer transfer window.

French outfit Marseille have shown interest in signing the 24-year-old goalkeeper, who has made 175 appearances for the Whites since his move from Lorient.

The Whites would want a fee in excess of £20 million for Meslier, and Leeds are evaluating potential replacements between the sticks.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Rodak is one name on the list, but that does not mean the Slovakian is a certainty at this stage.

Marek Rodak – potential replacement for Illan Meslier at Leeds?

Rodak has progressed through the youth ranks at Craven Cottage and has made over 100 appearances for Fulham.

He has mostly spent time out on loan, and the 22-times capped Slovakia international could be lured away from the London club.

Last season, he managed only five games, and at this stage of his career, he would love to move elsewhere to play regularly.

Meslier has been the first-choice goalkeeper at Elland Road since Marcelo Bielsa’s days.

The Frenchman has been one of the key players for the club, but he could be tempted to move back to his homeland to play for Marseille, which would improve his chances of being selected for the national side.

Leeds need to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules, so it is highly probable that they could cash in on Meslier if the right offer come their way. It seems the Whites are prepared for that.

In other Leeds United news, Premier League heavyweight have set sight on signing Whites teenage sensation.
