Lille receive £42.3m bid for Liverpool-linked Leny Yoro

An unknown Premier League club have made a formal offer to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro amid strong interest from Liverpool.

The Reds are looking to bolster their centre-back positions following Joel Matip’s departure and have earmarked Yoro as a potential option.

Lille would accept a fee of around £50 million for the youngster who dreams of playing for Real Madrid.

According to a fresh report from Daily Express, the French club has received a fee of around £42.3 million for the 18-year-old defender, who has one year remaining on his Lille contract.

However, Lille have turned the bid down. The player has made it clear that he does not want to move, as he is set on moving to Madrid.

Liverpool have been “pushing hard” to convince Yoro about a move to England.

Should Liverpool look for options elsewhere?

Yoro’s talent is undisputed, and that is why top clubs are desperate to keep him on board. He can become a world-class player in the future, and Liverpool could be a perfect place for his development.

He will have Ibrahima Konate as a compatriot who can help him settle down at Anfield if he makes the switch. The youngster can take his game to a whole new level under the guidance of Virgil van Dijk, arguably one of the best defenders in the world, if not the best.

Liverpool can offer him good wages and a platform to be part of the side that will challenge for the Premier League title next season. Plus, he will get exposure in the Champions League.

But if he has mentally decided to join Madrid, the Reds can hardly do anything but wait for the right moment.

It looks like Liverpool are already looking for options elsewhere. Journalist Mirko Di Natale reported on 15 June that a host of clubs, including United, are vying for the signature of Juventus defender Dean Huijsen who could be allowed to leave the club at around £25m.
