Liverpool duo Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah both expected to miss out on England’s final 26-man squad for the Euros

Liverpool due Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah are both expected to miss out on England’s final 26-man squad for the European Championship holding in Germany later this month, according to Daily Telegraph football news correspondent Matt Law.

Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate called up the two Reds stars to his initial 33-man squad, but it appears they have not done enough to convince him ahead of his final decision.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison left the England camp yesterday and Jones with his Liverpool teammate Quansah are expected to follow suit.

They were two of the best players under former manager Jurgen Klopp in 2023-24, with the 21-year-old centre-back making his debut and going on to feature in 33 games across all competitions.

Quansah established a solid partnership with Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk due to the injuries that constantly beleaguered the Anfield club, and he also proved useful going forward, weighing in with three goals and three assists.

He will not be making his England debut before next season but will be expected to earn another call-up and a potential bow next season if he keeps impressing.

Liverpool have a new manager in place in Arne Slot, and it will be interesting to see whether the Dutchman will trust Quansah going forward.

The youngster will be leaving the England camp a little disappointed, but he would have gathered some experience within the few days spent with the senior players, which should serve as a drive ahead of next season.

Jones bagged five goals and three assists in 36 games during the season and was also rewarded with his first senior call-up last month.

The 23-year-old midfielder will be back in the Three Lions camp sooner rather than later after this major blow, and he will be getting a deserved rest this summer ahead of another busy campaign.
