Liverpool have confirmed their interest in signing Lille defender Leny Yoro and have made some steps towards signing the centre-back, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on Daily Briefing (21 June), the transfer guru has claimed that Liverpool feel Real Madrid, who consider the 18-year-old a “generational talent,” will win the race for the player.
However, Romano says he can confirm that the Reds will be there to pounce on him if he fails to make the move to the La Liga champions.
Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also heavily linked with a move for Yoro who has only a year left on his contract at the French club.
As it stands, if Madrid make a move for the youngster, Yoro will choose them over other potential suitors.

Leny Yoro will be a fabulous signing for Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp has left behind a solid squad for Arne Slot to work with, and as such no major surgery is required.
Liverpool have Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Joe Gomez as three main centre-backs. Jarrell Quansah developed into a quality centre-back last season under Klopp, and he is set to play a major role for the club next season.
However, the Reds still need to bring in one more quality defender following Joel Matip’s departure. The club released him after his contract expired, and it makes sense for Liverpool to replace him with a quality young talent.
Yoro made 32 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, scoring two goals. With Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes constantly checking options on bolstering the squad, expect the Reds to come up with more options in the coming weeks.
Liverpool are yet to sign any player so far, and it appears that they will stay in the race until the end to bring Yoro to Anfield.
