Liverpool are amongst clubs showing keen interest in signing Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh, according to a report from The Telegraph.
Writing on their website on 7 June, the newspaper has reported that the Reds have expressed an interested in signing the “exciting” 19-year-old winger.
The Reds should be aiming to bolster their defence and midfield this summer, but they could also look to invest in young attacking forwards.
Minteh spent the last season on loan at Feyenoord from Newcastle, and impressed under Arne Slot. He managed 10 goals and five assists in 17 starts in the Eredivisie and earned rich praise from the former Feyenoord boss.
The Magpies are now reluctantly considering offers to sell the youngster, as they are under pressure to comply with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules. Newcastle value Minteh at around £40 million and are ready to accept bids for the Gambia international.
Newcastle signed Minteh for around £6.5 million from Danish club Odense. Eddie Howe wants to have a close look at him during the pre-season, but it appears that they could be looking to sell him at a higher price.

Ideally, Liverpool do a lot of scouting and data analysis before approaching a player, and they are likely to do the same for Minteh as well. Moreover, Michael Edwards has a reputation for securing deals at a reasonable price, and the Reds are highly likely to offer well below Newcastle’s valuation of the player.
The best thing about Minteh is that he can play in many positions. He can play as a right winger, a striker, a left winger, or an attacking central midfielder.
With Luis Diaz continuing to be linked with a move away from Anfield, the club can afford to think for his replacement, and Minteh does fit the bill.
