Liverpool must pay £51 million to sign Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners

The 26-year-old has been earning rave reviews in Italy since joining the Bergamo outfit in the summer of 2021.

He featured in 34 Serie A games last campaign, scoring 12 goals and creating five assists in the process.

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed as several top clubs have been linked with an interest.

Liverpool already have Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominick Szoboszlai but they are still looking to add another midfielder.

The Reds want to sign Koopmeiners this summer but Tuttomercatoweb suggests they will have to pay £51 million to seal a transfer

The 26-year-old has a contract at the Gewiss Stadium until 2027 and so they are only willing to let their star player leave for a huge fee.

Koopmeiners, who MEN called ‘incredible’, mainly plays as a attacking midfielder but he is also comfortable operating as a central as well as a defensive midfielder.

The Netherlands international posted impressive numbers in the Serie A last season, averaging 1.6 shots, 1.8 key passes and 4.4 ball recoveries per game.

He has enormous potential and has already worked with Liverpool new manager Arne Slot at AZ Alkmaar.
