Rangers agree personal terms with Connor Barron

Rangers have agreed personal terms with Aberdeen midfielder Connor Barron to bring him to Ibrox in the summer transfer window, according to a report from the Daily Record

The Scottish newspaper reported in the print edition (20 May, page 36) that the Bears plan to register Barron on a “freedom of contract”, subject to a medical.

No agreement has taken place between the two teams as of now but the Ibrox outfit can try to strike an agreement directly with Aberdeen or take their chances at a tribunal.

Barron would join the Gers on a free transfer but Aberdeen would be entitled to more than £500,000 in training compensation.

Connor Barron would be fourth signing for Rangers

A host of clubs showed interest in signing the midfielder who was close to making Steve Clarke’s squad for the Euro 2024 Championships.

He was offered a contract extension at the club, but he decided not to renew it. The highly-rated midfielder was also wanted by clubs in Italy and England, but he has decided to move to Ibrox instead.

Philippe Clement has been very busy in the summer window, and three players have already arrived. He is looking to overhaul the entire squad, and more players are expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

The Bears have already released senior midfielders like Ryan Jack and John Lundstram and Clement will be looking to add more depth in midfield this summer.

Barron has experience of Scottish football, and signing him for a measly fee (compensation included) is a no-brainer.

It appears that Rangers are close to securing the signature of Barron who would become the fourth signing of the club this summer, but they still need to agree a compensation fee with the Dons.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are on course to securing deal for 28-year-old player on free transfer.
