Rangers wonderkid Alexander Smith has signed his first professional contract at Ibrox.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the 16-year-old youngster has signed a three-year contract at the Glasgow club.
The youngster had the opportunity to move to the MLS or the Premier League, but he chose Rangers as his next step to progress his career.
Romano tweeted this morning (28 June) a picture of the youngster proudly holding his Rangers shirt. He will wear the no 10 shirt for the Gers and will continue his development at the club’s academy, and the transfer expert has confirmed that it is a “done deal”.

The transfer guru wrote: “Alexander Smith has signed a three year professional contract at Rangers, deal done. Eligible for USA & Scotland, Smith picked Rangers ahead of strong options in MLS and Premier League.”
Smith is seen as one of the brightest prospects at his age, and Rangers have finally managed to convince him that his best developing years should be better spent at Ibrox.
Rangers have always shown great commitment to nurturing young talents, and Smith has made the right decision. A move to the Premier League may appear romantic, but very few clubs actually groom youngsters and take them into their first team.
While he is still far from making the first team at the Scottish club, Smith should concentrate on developing his skills and getting better every day. If he keeps on developing, chances are bound to come for him.
This has been a massive transfer window for the Bears, who are once again set for a massive rebuilding project under a different manager.
Philippe Clement has wasted no time in clearing the deadwood with several senior players being shown the Ibrox exit door following the expiry of their contracts.
As many as five new players have come in already, and more to follow in the coming days as Clement is on a mission to revamp the squad to his own taste.
At the same time, it is good to see that the Rangers have maintained their commitment to getting deals done for young, talented players.
