Newcastle United are happy to sanction the exit of striker Callum Wilson amid interest from several clubs.
According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, the Magpies striker is being chased by three clubs, including those from the Saudi Pro League.
The 32-year-old striker still has over 12 months remaining in his contract at Tyneside, but Newcastle are looking to offload him now as they desperately need to stay within the limits of the Premier League’s financial rules.
Wilson has shown no inclination to leave St James’ Park, and doubts remain about whether he will agree to a deal from the Saudi club even if they can offer a better pay-package.
The England international joined the Magpies in the summer of 2020 from AFC Bournemouth and has made 108 appearances for the club, scoring 48 goals.
Last season, he scored 10 goals in 26 games in all competitions and can still add significant value to the side.
Jacobs wrote on X: “There remains strong Saudi interest in Callum Wilson with Newcastle happy to sanction a sale. Unclear if Wilson prepared to move to the Saudi Pro League, but three different clubs have expressed interest.”
Newcastle United getting desperate to offload players
The Magpies need to offload a few players to stay within the financial limits and they have badly struggled in their transfer dealings so far.
Clubs like Everton and Aston Villa managed to sell players to stay this month to comply with the PSR, but Newcastle have found it really difficult to negotiate deals of their choice.
They wanted to offload Yankuba Minteh and had even agreed a deal with Lyon, but the young attacker has refused to move to France. He wants to stay in the Premier League and has even agreed personal terms with Everton, although the Toffees are highly unlikely to revive their talks.
The Magpies have become so desperate that they have tried to offload their best player of last season, Anthony Gordon to Liverpool, but talks have broken down.
