Tottenham consider making offer for Leeds United youngster Archie Gray

Tottenham Hotspur are considering making an offer for Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray.

The 18-year-old versatile Leeds player is set for a medical at Brentford after the Whites have agreed a deal in the region of £40 million including add-ons.

Gray is expected to undergo his medical shortly. While Brentford are still leading the race, the transfer has not yet reached the stage of a done deal.

According to Alex Crook of talkSPORT, Tottenham are considering making a late offer to Leeds to hijack the deal.

A host of clubs, including Spurs and Chelsea, are interested in signing Gray. It appears that Spurs are looking to match Brentford’s offer for Gray, and it could become very interesting if that happens.

Gray was almost ever-present for Leeds last season and helped the club reach the play-off finals, where they lost against Southampton.

He made 47 appearances in the Championship under Daniel Farke. While it is a blow for Leeds to lose their generational talent, the club apparently have informed him that they need to sell in order to comply with PSR.

Gray has been offered a contract worth £75,000 a week, and if the deal goes through, he will become Brentford’s record signing.

The youngster has been Leeds’s crown jewel and belongs to the famous Gray family, whose members have achieved legendary status at Elland Road.

In terms of business, it looks like a fantastic deal. Gray is a homegrown boy, and whatever the club earns from his sale will be seen as pure profit.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Aston Villa, and West Ham are also interested in signing Gray, but Spurs are expected to make a late challenge in the next 24 hours.
