Wes Foderingham will undergo West Ham medical next week

West Ham are closing in on their next signing, with Wes Foderingham set to join the Hammers on a free transfer.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers have already signed the 33-year-old goalkeeper, who will become the London club’s third-choice keeper.

He will sign a two-year contract at the London Stadium and will become the second signing of the summer for West Ham following the arrival of Brazilian forward Luis Guilherme.

Romano shared on X (20 June) that Foderingham will undergo his medical next week. His arrival will pave the way for Nathan Trott’s departure, who will join Copenhagen this weekend.

Trott is very close to finalising a £1.5 million move to Copenhagen, and it seems a deal has also been agreed upon for him.

Smart signing from West Ham

Foderingham is a vastly experienced goalkeeper. Last season, he made 30 appearances in the Premier League, which shows that he can be relied upon in an injury crisis.

Julen Lopetegui will mainly rely on Alphonse Areola who is the first-choice goalkeeper at the club. Veteran Lukasz Fabianski is the second-choice goalkeeper at the club, but Foderingham is likely to challenge him for a spot in the side.

Foderingham has played for clubs like Swindon Town, Rangers, and Sheffield United and has made over 485 appearances in his club career. He still has a few good years left in him, and getting him on board for free represents a terrific piece of business.

Also, West Ham managed to get a decent fee for Trott who desperately needs to play regularly, and his exit was inevitable. The Hammers should now look to push hard to sign a new centre-back, with Max Kilman being viewed as a priority signing for the club.
