West Ham are hoping to reach an agreement with Brazilian club Corinthians to sign Wesley in the summer transfer window.
The Hammers already submitted a bid in the region of £12.6 million, but it was quickly rejected. Corinthians are demanding a fee of around £25.3 million for the 19-year-old striker.
According to a report from GOAL Brazil, West Ham are expected to arrive with a new bid of over £16 million, and there is an expectation that an agreement can be reached for Wesley in the summer transfer window.
Wesley has a contract at the Brazilian club until 2027. The player owns 30% of the economic rights, while Corinthians owns the remaining 70%. That’s why the Brazilian club is trying to raise the asking price so that they can get a large share of the transfer fee.
Brighton and Crystal Palace have registered interest, while European giants AC Milan are also his admirers. However, West Ham are most active in negotiation and look most likely to broker a deal for the versatile forward.
West Ham continue Brazilian scouting
Wesley has established himself as a regular starter for Corinthians under António Oliveira. He has made 28 appearances in 2024, where he scored five goals and provided three assists.
It seems like Tim Steidten has developed a strong network in Brazil, as he looks to unearth hidden gems to bolster Julen Lopetegui’s squad.
The Hammers were heavily linked with a move for Fabricio Bruno, but the deal collapsed in the end after the player expressed his dissatisfaction with wage offers. But, the Hammers moved quickly to secure a deal for Palmeiras forward Luis Guilherme who is currently undergoing his medical.
Wesley is a versatile attacker who, like Guilherme, can play upfront or on the flanks. The Hammers are looking to find a long-term replacement for veteran Michail Antonio, and it seems they are willing to invest heavily in young talents.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are leading the race to sign the 26-year-old striker and can get him on a cut-price deal.
