Rangers skipper James Tavernier is edging closer to leaving Ibrox in the summer transfer window.
The Gers legend has been heavily linked with a move away from the club. He is likely to end his nine-year stay at Ibrox with a move to the Turkish club Trabzonspor.
According to a report from TeamTalk, Rangers are locked in talks with the Turkish club over a potential transfer.
The “agreement is close”, and personal terms with the right-back have been agreed between the full-back and the Turkish club.
Rangers had rejected the Turkish club’s initial approach for Tavernier. According to a recent report from Rangers Review, the Bears have received a second bid for the player over the weekend.
It seems that a deal is close now to Tavernier to leave Ibrox. He was not part of the team that travelled to face Manchester United and didn’t train due to an injury.
Dujon Sterling is expected to be a natural successor for Tavernier but it would be almost next to impossible for any defender to replicate the numbers. Tavernier scored 125 goals and provided a staggering 129 assists in that time.
More Rangers players set for exit in coming weeks
Philippe Clement wants to add more players to the roster, but he first needs to sell.
The Gers are looking to recoup some money from player sales, and use that money to bring in new players.
Tavernier is set to join former teammates John Lundstram and Borna Barisic at the Turkish club, both left on free transfers.
Likewise, veteran defender Connor Goldson is also facing an uncertain future at the Glasgow club. While he is set to take part in the friendly game against Birmingham City, talks of a potential exit have been mooted.
Ianis Hagi has been linked with a move away from the club while Todd Cantwell is also facing an uncertain future at Ibrox.
