Galatasaray are only willing to sell attacking midfielder Baris Alper Yilmaz for around £25.5 million amid interest from Aston Villa and other suitors, and offers below £21m will not be entertained before talks begin between any of the clubs that want him, according to Turkish outlet Sabah.
The Turkey international was one of the best players for his country at the ongoing European Championship, putting in eye-catching performances before their elimination at the hands of the Netherlands in the quarter-final, and Villa have been impressed with what they have seen from him so far.
However, the Midlands club are not the only ones keen on Yilmaz, with Manchester United also interested in recruiting the services of the 24-year-old, while offers are expected from Italy, Spain and France for him.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the Galatasaray star, and Villa will need to table a juicy offer to both club and player to have a chance of luring him to Villa Park ahead of others.
Qualifying for the Champions League has already put them ahead of Man United in the race for Yilmaz as he will be interested in continuing to play at the elite European competition.
While he did not score or assist in five appearances at Euro 2024, the Villa target was a constant menace to defenders, with his pace, dribbles and passes continually causing opposition all sorts of problems.
Yilmaz ended last season with seven goals and 12 assists in 55 games in all competitions, helping Gala win back-to-back Super Lig titles.
While he is primarily a winger capable of playing on both flanks, the speedster can also play as a number 9, as a left-back and a right-back due to his brilliant tackling skills, and Villa manager Unai Emery and president of football operations Monchi have clearly been also attracted to him due to such uncommon versatility.
They need such a utility player and experienced star within their ranks as they look to impress in Europe and on the domestic fronts next season, and pipping fierce competition to his services will be huge.
