Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong dreams of joining Liverpool

Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong reportedly dreams of playing for Liverpool

The Reds led the Premier League table for the majority of last season but a collapse at the end saw them finishing in third.

New boss Arne Slot is looking to improve the quality and depth of the squad as he aims to end Manchester City’s dominance in the English top-flight.

They are pursuing a deal for Frimpong who has been earning rave reviews with his performances in Germany.

The Merseyside giants have seemingly been handed a boost in their chase for the 23-year-old who has a £34 million release clause in his contract.

According to Bild (July 10, Page 10), the midfielder is interested in joining only three clubs including Real Madrid, Liverpool and Arsenal

Frimpong is a very versatile player who can be utilised in a variety of positions but mainly played as right midfielder last season.

The Dutch footballer played a key role in helping Leverkusen end Bayern Munich’s dominance in the Bundesliga last term.

The 23-year-old played in 47 games across all competitions, with 26 goal contributions to his name.

He is currently with the Netherlands national team at Euro 2024 and has featured in three matches so far.

Liverpool are yet to sign a first-team star under Slot but they are expected to make additions to the squad before the summer transfer window closes.

Goalkeeper Adrian has left after five years at Anfield in addition to Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip, while Calvin Ramsay has been sent out on loan to Wigan Athletic.

Frimpong would be an excellent acquisition for them and they must do everything to secure a deal for him.
