Everton now have a good chance of securing the signing of Hull City winger Jaden Philogene.
According to Alan Myers, the Toffees have an agreement in place and the deal for Philogene is “more possible” at this stage, although other clubs are in the race to sign him, especially Ipswich Town.
The Sky Sports journalist wrote on X (9 July) that the player is open to moving to Goodison Park, but there are other potential suitors at the moment.
Myers also adds that Everton are concentrating on other targets in the winger position—it could be a replacement for Philogene if the deal doesn’t go through or another new signing.
He wrote on X: “Philogene deal looking more possible, clubs have an agreement in place and player believed to be open to Goodison move but strong competition from two other clubs.
“Everton also concentrating on other targets in the winger position.”
Everton have secured three signings already this summer, but Sean Dyche is looking to add more quality.
The Toffees did incredibly well staying within the PSR limits last month, and they can now focus on signing new players.
Bolstering the forward department is a priority for Dyche, and Everton fans will be excited to see that a proper structure has already been in place.
In a separate tweet, Myers wrote that a lot of work has been done behind the scenes to establish the proper structure, and it can only get better once the takeover is completed.
Philogene is an exciting winger who scored 12 goals last season. At 22, his best years are ahead of him, and he can gradually progress and become an asset to the club.
There are loads of players who have done extremely well after coming from the Championship, and there is no reason to believe why Philogene can’t be a massive hit at Goodison Park.
