Everton have made contact to sign Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.
According to a report from TuttoSport, the Toffees have made initial enquiries to sign the 25-year-old midfielder who is no longer a part of Juventus’ plans for next season.
The Old Lady are already looking to find a replacement for the 56-times-capped USA international, and Everton are looking to bring him to Goodison Park.
McKennie rejected the chance to move to Aston Villa as a part of the deal for Douglas Luiz, but the Toffees could still lure him to make another move to the Premier League.
He joined Leeds on loan from Juventus in the January window of 2023, and it was a nightmare experience for him.
If the Toffees are genuinely interested in signing him, they will have to pay a fee of around £12.6 million to £16.8 million for McKennie.
Should Everton look to sign Weston McKennie?
The Toffees are likely to lose their star midfielder, Amadou Onana, in the summer window. The Belgium international is set to undergo his medical at Villa Park at some point this week.
Everton will receive a fee of around £50 million for Onana, and they will have to spend it wisely.
McKennie is a vastly experienced midfielder. He made over 90 appearances for Schalke before moving to Juventus. He is a regular member of the USA national team, and his best years are ahead of him.
With his contract expiring in less than a year, Everton should look to get him at a much-reduced rate than the fee quoted above. Given his age and quality, Everton can afford to take a gamble on him even though his previous stint in the Premier League wasn’t encouraging.
