Ghanaian defensive midfielder Fatawu Ganiwu currently at Chelsea after being invited

Chelsea have invited highly-rated Ghanaian defensive midfielder Fatawu Ganiwu for a trial, according to the Secret Scout.

The Secret Scout is a reputable source for youth football and transfer news, and they claim on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) that the 16-year-old is currently with the Blues, posting a picture of him.

Ganiwu has already visited RB Salzburg on several occasions, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will offer him a deal as he is on the radar of top European clubs.

Fabrizio Romano reported last October that the Blues, Bayern Munich and RC Lens are also tracking the teenage sensation, revealing he was planning to travel to train with some European clubs.

Ganiwu has now embarked on his trial and will hope to convince the Blues he is good enough for them.

Other clubs could also look to pip Chelsea to his services, and it will be left for the youngster and his representatives to choose which project is best for them if they receive several offers.

Ganiwu rose to prominence during the inaugural UEFA under-16 development tournament last year, playing a pivotal role in Ghana’s success at the competition and attracting interest from several scouts in attendance.

The midfielder earned comparisons with former Chelsea star Michael Essien as a result of his style of play and performances, helping the Black Starlets win the tournament after they defeated Serbia, Spain, and Switzerland.

Ganiwu has been training with the Chelsea under-18 and under-21 sides and is expected to play some games for them before a decision is made.

He is likely to be sent out on loan to the Blues’ partner club Strasbourg in France if his trial is successful, and he is one player to keep an eye on going forward.
