Liverpool have reportedly made Sporting Lisbon star Goncalo Inacio as their priority summer target.
The Reds haven’t signed a first-team player yet but they are expected to add to their squad before the end of the transfer window on August 30.
They are looking to bring in a new central defender following the departure of Joel Matip at the end of his contract.
Arne Slot’s side have Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Jarell Quansah on their books, but Virgil van Dijk’s future in Merseyside is a source of speculation.
The club captain has entered the final 12 months of his contract in Merseyside and he is yet to agree a new deal.
The Reds are chasing a move for Sporting’s Goncalo Inacio as they aim to bolster their ranks ahead of the 20224-25 campaign.
According to O Jogo (July 15, Page 12), Liverpool have already taken steps to sign the 22-year-old.
The centre-back has been earning rave reviews with his performances in Portugal in the last few years.
He was a key part of Ruben Amromim’s team last season that won the Primeira Liga title.
His brilliant displays have seen him linked with Manchester United and Arsenal, but Liverpool appear to be the most serious about sealing a move for the talented centre-back.
Inacio has a contract with Sporting until 2027 but he could be signed by paying his £50 million release clause.
