Liverpool reject PSV Eindhoven offer for Sepp van den Berg

Liverpool have rejected an offer from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven for defender Sepp van den Berg.

The Reds may not have signed any new players this summer, but they are not looking to sell any of their current players on the cheap.

Liverpool already rejected Marseille’s offer for midfielder Wataru Endo and have now rejected an offer for Van den Berg.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Eindhoven have sent a formal bid for the 22-year-old defender, worth around £8.4 million.

Liverpool have quickly rejected the deal as they value him well over £15 million.

Romano wrote on X: “Understand PSV Eindhoven have sent formal bid to Liverpool for Sepp van den Berg at the end of last week, worth around €10m. Liverpool have immediately rejected the proposal.”

Sepp van den Berg wants to leave Liverpool this summer

The Dutch defender failed to make a breakthrough under previous manager Jurgen Klopp.

However, he still may have a chance to cement his place in Arne Slot’s squad for next season.

He impressed heavily at Mainz last season on loan. The German club wanted to sign him permanently but Liverpool’s asking price is way over their budget.

Recently, TSC Hoffenheim have made an effort to sign him, but they have yet to make a formal offer.

With Natt Philipps out of the picture and Liverpool needing a new centre-back, Van den Berg could climb up the ladder and become an important player under Slot.

With Michael Edwards at the helm, other clubs can simply forget about getting any Liverpool player on the cheap. The Reds will almost certainly not sell him unless any potential suitor offers a bid closer to Liverpool’s valuation.
