Manchester United have been linked with an interest in Ajax’s Brian Brobbey, with manager Erik ten Hag keen on a reunion with the 22-year-old.
However, the Manchester giants face competition as Arsenal are set for a £30 million transfer battle with them over Brobbey, per The Sun.
The Gunners are keen to sign an alternative to injury-prone Gabriel Jesus and believe the Dutch footballer to be an ideal option.
Several other Italian clubs are also said to be interested but the young striker prefers a move to the Premier League.
Brobbey was fancied to join United in 2022 but he turned down the chance to rejoin Ajax from RB Leipzig.
The centre-forward has since been delivering excellent performances for the Amsterdam outfit. Last season, he scored 22 goals and created 12 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
Manchester United are looking for reinforcements in attack this summer after Anthony Martial left the club at the end of his contract.
They are reportedly closing in on a deal for Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee.
The 23-year-old has agreed to join the Red Devils but talks continue regarding a transfer fee.
If United sign Zirkzee, then they will likely not pursue a deal for Brobbey. This is because they don’t have a huge budget and also need reinforcements in other areas, especially defence.
Raphael Varane has left the Premier League giants and there are speculations regarding the futures of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
Lisandro Martinez is an excellent defender but he is injury-prone, making just 11 league appearances last season.
