Manchester United keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon again

Manchester United are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon again, according to Spanish outlet AS.

The 27-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan at the Old Trafford club before the Red Devils activated the break clause in his contract in January.

Reguilon joined Brentford for the second half of the campaign and has returned to Spurs as the Bees did not have an option to sign him permanently in the loan deal.

Tottenham have no plans to retain the services of the Spaniard as he is not in the plans of manager Ange Postecoglou, and he is not short of Premier League suitors, with Man United keen on bringing him back to the Theatre of Dreams.

West Ham United are also interested in recruiting the services of the former Sevilla star as new manager Julen Lopetegui is eyeing a reunion.

Juventus are also keen on Reguilon, but a chance to return to Man United could be more appealing to him.

Luke Shaw is back to full fitness after missing a large chunk of last season while manager Erik ten Hag will hope to be able to finally call upon Tyrell Malacia after he missed the whole of 2023-24.

However, the Red Devils cannot afford to rely on the duo given their injury history, and a move for the Spurs left-back makes sense.

While Reguilon did not score a goal or weighed in with an assist in 12 appearances during his spell at Man United, he ended the season strongly with Brentford, assisting four times in 16 Premier League appearances.

Ten Hag allowed him to leave in January because he was assured by medical staff that Shaw and Malacia would be fit for the second half of the campaign, but he was forced to play several players out of position as the duo failed to return to full fitness.

Reguilon proved his quality at Brentford with some fine displays and will be ready to hit the ground running at Man United if he returns.
