Newcastle hope to persuade Jarrod Bowen to join St James’ Park

Newcastle United have made West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen their first-choice target in the summer transfer window.

The Magpies successfully navigated the threat of PSR by selling Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson last month.

It means they can now focus on signing new players this summer and Eddie Howe prioritizes bringing in a new right winger, another centre-half, and a centre-forward.

The Magpies want to sign a new right-attacking forward, and they are willing to spend big.

According to a report from Northern Echo, if the Magpies can successfully land one of their targets, they will happily offload Miguel Almiron.

Bowen has emerged as one of their top targets and Newcastle are hopeful that they will be able to persuade him to move to St James’ Park despite the fact that they cannot offer him European football.

Bowen is a vastly experienced player who has scored 115 goals in his club career. In the past three years or so, he has taken his game to a new height at West Ham, and the Hammers would love to keep him at all costs.

The England winger signed a new contract at the club last October that will keep him at the London Stadium until 2030. So, Newcastle will have to pay a massive transfer fee to get him.

Newcastle officials feel that Bowen does not yet have a relationship with the club’s new manager, Julen Lopetegui, and that’s why he can be persuaded to join a club that can challenge for regular continental competition in the next few years than West Ham.

Bowen has not indicated that he wants to leave the Hammers, and West Ham will not want to antagonise their fan base by selling two of their best players in two successive summer transfer windows.

West Ham are expected to demand more than £100 million for Bowen but the Magpies will look to negotiate a deal much less than that.
