Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg keen to leave Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is keen to leave the club this summer.

Ange Postecoglou is expected to make necessary changes to the squad, and several players are likely to depart.

The midfield is one area that needs rebuilding and the Spurs boss is ready to offload players like Giovani Lo Celso, Oliver Skipp, Bryan Gil and Hojbjerg.

According to Florian Plettenberg, the Danish midfielder is “keen” to leave Spurs. His national teammate, Thomas Delaney, has hailed him as an “amazing” player, adding that the 28-year-old central midfielder would be a good signing for Borussia Dortmund.

The Danish international specifically responded to the question of possibly moving to Dortmund, saying – “we’ll talk about the rest” after he returns from holidays.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg needs to leave Tottenham

The central midfielder joined Spurs in the summer of 2020 from Southampton and has made 184 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Last season, he managed 39 games in all competitions under Postecoglou, but it became clear that he wouldn’t be playing a prominent role next season.

Hojbjerg has only 12 months left on his Tottenham contract and it is high time that the north London club cash in on him, although they can’t expect to get a huge fee.

Tanguy Ndombele has already left the club after mutual termination of his contract, and Hojbjerg could be the next high-profile departure.

If all these midfielders are sold, Postecoglou will be left with Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison, and Pape Matar Sarr in the midfield, and he will need more new faces.

Tottenham will play more games next season due to their participation in the Europa League, and a bigger squad is required.

Spurs have already signed Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray, both are highly talented midfielders, but they will need time to adapt to the pace and physicality of the Premier League.

Academy midfielders Tyrese Hall and Jamie Donley are seen as terrific prospects, and they are likely to be heavily involved in pre-season. Spurs also retain interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze and Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
